Nothing lasts, life goes on,
Full of surprises;
You'll be faced with problems of all shapes and sizes,
You're going to have to make a few compromises...
For now.
So, what am I up to since finishing my TB-DOTS?
- Got promoted at work
- Got engaged
- Gained some more weight (masarap kumain eh!)
- Traveled to more places
- Got married.
For two straight years, I have been given a clean bill of health (well, except for the weight. Tee-hee), with no visible scarring on my left lung. ☺
I almost have forgotten this blog until I was contacted by a few people who are now going through the same path as I have. I have this to tell you: TB is very treatable, and that you alone hold your future in your hands. The stigma is there, yes, but really, the people who matters in your life will never mind, and those who do mind do not matter in your life. I'm glad to know that somehow, somewhere, I was able to give hope to you.
Hope for the best and cheers to you all!

Hi ask ko lng other side effect ng quadtab? Nag darkened ba yung skin mo and nagka dermatitis or pimples ka sa face, back, and shoulders? And malaki ba chance na mwala scarring s lungs? I hope you're able to answer my question. Thank you
ReplyDeleteLuckily, hindi ako nagkadermatitis, but yes, nagkaroos ako ng pimples sa likod -.- Actually, I've been using a whitening soap, so pumuti pa nga ako since then. Another side effect na naranasan ko is ung ihi ko naging reddish.
DeleteAbout sa scarring, I guess depende kung gaano siya kalala to start with. Mine was diagnosed even before the symptoms start, so now, wala siyang scarring when I went for our company's annual physical exam.
Hope that helps! xArlene
Hi i am kavin, its my first time to commenting anyplace, when i read this
ReplyDeleteparagraph i thought i could also make comment due to this sensible post.
Hello Kevin! Thank you for your kind compliment ☺
DeleteThere should be no stigma at all -none whatsoever. Tuberculosis can be caught by any human on earth and of course it's well known that cattle can get TB no matter how well they are fed and looked after.
ReplyDeleteI was resistant to TB when I was a child but when we were tested -thanks to my wonderful cleaver mother who took my brother 7 years younger than me at about 6 years old to the TB unit. My brother had to have the inoculation but I did not.
Not a word about TB since until by chance I had to have a chest xray for my subaqua
pastime. The report 1978 said calcifications to both lungs -no active lesion.....
still no educational advice. 10 years on a lymph node swells near collarbone still no mention of TB. All sorts of health issues which in hindsight strongly suggests it was TB but still no mention of TB.......
I myself paid for a Quantiferon test that proved I had antibodies against TB but still no mention of the dirty word which by now was being firmly pushed under the carpet and now to date although the 'word' has been mentioned it has not come out from under the carpet and that is where it might stay unless I am not who I am.
There needs to be massive publicity to educate the population of the UK who have latent TB..... Why, because the tuberculosis bacteria is one of the most crafty bacteria that ever existed. That must be the reason it has been with us and still with us here in the UK even for over 2000 years. No wonder it is on the increase if doctors do not show willing to accept that there are old folks like me who picked that bacteria up just after the war and still have the capacity to infect others right now. The situation is none other than scandalous.
